Surdex GSI

Surdex Geospatial Systems Integration, LLC (SGSI), in collaboration with our Partners, is continuing the development and integration of multi-sensor equipped aerial platforms to support a variety of Emergency Responder geospatial data needs in response to growing data demands as a result of natural and man-made disaster events.  The ever increasing demands for timely imagery, terrain data, and other remotely sensed data products supporting Federal, State, and Local emergency responders require airborne platforms that provide multi-mission capabilities to quickly react and respond to varying environments and needs unique to each disaster.  The SGSI team’s challenge is to integrate various systems such as X-band and P-band interferometric synthetic aperture radar (IFSAR), LiDAR, Digital Imagery, scanner and frame, Video, Multi-Spectral and Thermal (mid-wave and long-wave) remotely sensed data, and deliver geospatial data via down/up link in a nearly real-time collection mode for timely 3-D geospatial analysis.

Target Geospatial Products

Imagery

  • Radar Imagery – 1-5 meter
  • Digital Frame/Scanner direct process Orthophotography – 8 cm – 1-meter, 4-band
  • Video – Natural color and thermal IR, 900 – 14,000 nanometers

Photogrammetric Mapping

  • IFSAR and LiDAR DTM from 8-points/sq. meter to 5-meter elevation postings for DTM generation, change detection, subsidence, and volumetric evaluations
  • Automated Plan extraction and elevation data from 1:600 to 1:24,000 product scales

Thermal Mapping

  • Detection of thermal radiation providing temperature and heat intensities to identify and isolate remaining hot-spots or survivors

Data Transmission

  • Provides the ability to put data in the hands of the First Responder, or to a ground based processing and mission command center in near real-time through the use of microwave data transmission

Information Delivery

  • Hand held PDA’s, phones, tablets, linked to existing area specific geospatial data and current, near real-time data available to assist in field verification, attribution and distribution to a command center for the coordination of recovery efforts
